Phone not reading an NFC tag? A step-by-step diagnosis
Separate phone settings, tap position, case, material, encoding and destination problems instead of repeatedly trying the same motion.

Confirm the model supports NFC and that any relevant system setting is enabled. Unlock the phone and keep the screen active. Some devices handle background tag reading differently.
2. Find the antenna position
Move the phone slowly across the marked tap area rather than tapping the centre repeatedly. Antenna position varies by device and can be near the top, centre or camera area.
3. Remove avoidable barriers
Temporarily remove a thick case, magnetic wallet or attached accessory. Move the product away from large metal surfaces unless it uses an on-metal tag.
4. Test another phone and tag
One known-good phone and one known-good NFC product help isolate whether the issue follows the phone or the tag. Record the exact models and result.
5. Separate reading from loading
If a notification appears, the NFC read succeeded. A browser error, redirect loop or unavailable page is a destination problem, not a radio problem.

A thick case, metal plate, magnetic wallet or attached accessory can reduce reliability. Test without them to isolate the cause.
